About NotepadOne

A minimalist, lightning-fast, and completely private online notepad built for people who just want to write without compromise.

Our Mission

To provide the world's most private and distraction-free writing experience. In a world where every app wants your data, NotepadOne stands as a sanctuary for private thought and creative expression.

Why NotepadOne Exists

Privacy Crisis

Most writing tools today require accounts, track your behavior, and monetize your data. Your private thoughts shouldn't be a product.

Feature Bloat

Modern writing apps are overloaded with features you don't need. Sometimes you just want a clean space to think and write.

Speed Matters

Your ideas shouldn't wait for slow-loading apps. Writing should be instant, responsive, and friction-free.

Accessibility

Everyone deserves access to private, high-quality writing tools regardless of their budget or technical expertise.

Development Philosophy

Privacy by Design

Privacy isn't an afterthought or a feature - it's the foundation. Every technical decision is evaluated through the lens of user privacy first. If a feature would compromise privacy, it doesn't get built.

Radical Simplicity

Every feature must justify its existence. The interface should be so intuitive that no tutorial is needed. Complexity is the enemy of both privacy and usability.

Long-term Thinking

Built to last decades, not months. No venture capital, no growth hacking, no user acquisition funnels. Just a sustainable tool that works reliably for years to come.

About the Creator

Jan Kratochvil

jankratochvil.dev

I'm a developer passionate about creating tools that respect users and solve real problems. I was simply looking for a super minimal online notepad—no login, no ads, no tracking—but couldn't find one that truly respected privacy.

NotepadOne was born from that need: a place to quickly jot down thoughts without creating accounts, accepting terms of service, or wondering who might be reading my notes. When I couldn't find a tool that met these basic requirements, I decided to build it myself.

My goal is to show that privacy-first software can be both powerful and beautifully simple. NotepadOne will always remain free, ad-free, and tracking-free.

Technical Approach

Client-Side Everything

All processing happens in your browser. No servers to hack, no databases to breach, no logs to subpoena. Your notes literally cannot be accessed by anyone but you.

Minimal Codebase

Less code means fewer bugs, faster loading, and easier security auditing. The entire application is smaller than most website images.

Modern Standards

Built with modern web technologies for speed and reliability, while maintaining compatibility with older browsers for accessibility.

No Dependencies

Minimal external dependencies reduce security risks and ensure the app will continue working even if third-party services fail.

Looking Forward

Staying True to Our Principles

As NotepadOne grows, we remain committed to our core values: privacy, simplicity, and speed. Any new features must enhance the writing experience without compromising these principles. See our current feature set to understand what we've built so far.

Enhanced keyboard shortcuts and accessibility features
Improved mobile experience and offline capabilities
Additional export formats and backup options

Our Core Commitments

These fundamental principles guide every decision we make for NotepadOne:

No user accounts or login requirements
No data collection, tracking, or analytics
Local storage only - notes stay on your device
Privacy-first design and development
